Variety - the Spice of Life

My night cap
Kept Ninja's home-made Hummus
This week our shipment from The Meat Guy arrived - so Kept Ninja, in his return to health, made me turkey, home-made pesto, spinach, onion, and carrot for lunch... with 2kg of delicious home-made hummus to snack on!!! :) we probably should have frozen some more of the chickpeas, but oh well - it has lemon juice in it so hopefully it keeps for a while! I also started drinking hot water, lemon and 2 tablespoons of olive oil at night ... for fun :P Sunday we had lamb - first red meat in two weeks... hmmm.

Lamb, spinach, garlic, spring onion, pine nuts, mushrooms and balsamic

Week 2 Results:

Weight: Total = 4.2kg, wk 2 = 0.8kg  - the book suggests it comes off in "spurts"... another spurt would be good :P

Mood: was rather a grumble bum for the first 3 days of last week - could have been the cleanse (release of toxins), or it could have been work and a soul-destroying group assignment for my International Business Management unit... I suspect the latter. Energy picked up again in the last few days.

Observations: The toxins are leaving the building... I'll leave it at that :P

Exercise: After a slow start, I managed 3 workout DVDs and a 4km run... will gear up for a big last week!

Principles I'll take away from this: This week I finally finished Dr Junger's book (http://www.cleanprogram.com/). Yes, I probably should have done that BEFORE I started but life got in the way. Anyway, I am now mortified that my deodorant I've been using for years has aluminium, propane, butane, and other nasties - which I spray directly into a gland, to circulate in my blood stream :( Plus all my moisturisers are make from petroleum products :( Time to go organic! I got some good tips from friends on Facebook, and my Naturopath of 20 years, who is very wise... I'll try out Miessence, Tinderbox, Natural Instinct, California Baby, and LOC and report back.

Things I miss the most: It's much easier to avoid temptation if you're not amongst it - we went to the Sumo tournament on Saturday - there was beer everywhere & hot, takeaway food - can't say I wasn't tempted, but as Kept Ninja put it "well, you did bring a shake"...lucky me.

7 tiny days to go... I think I can, I think I can :)
