Well, we're here... the usual spiele about forgetting paperwork and having to re-dock to pick it up, delayed our journey by an hour, but we're here. We had two options at the airport ... $350 cab to the Apartment or $70 train ticket... we took the train... would have paid double the cab fare to avoid that again! We had 95kg of luggage... 2 big suitcases each and two little ones... needless to say the Kept Ninja was "sweating his ring out"... you can imagine out jubilation when we'd managed to heist our gear down a few escalators, armed with two tickets, jumped right into the arriving train....only to find we were in carriage 9 and carriages 1-6 were the only ones stopping at our stop...whoops. We have 'guns' now!
Our apartment is nice - 70sqm pad across from Shinagawa station so access is easy. We were feeling a bit lazy so we went to our nearest supermarket to pick up dinner and breakfast... we walked into a sea on culinary treats... how are we going to try all of this in 18months?!?! A man offering us a taste test won our business and we picked up some pork dumplings, veg-noodles...and a few other little things that we're not sure what they are called :) tasted delicious though :) bread was ~$6 for six slices, so we're moving to a different supermarket tomorrow... Tristan's first task as a Kept Ninja...
Tris should be starting his blog tomorrow so I'll leave it to him to tell you about the wonderful toilets here :)
I hit the office tomorrow, then we have apartment scouting on Thursday and a tour of Yokohama by the relocation consultant on the weekend so hopefully my next post will have some good pics :) for now, I will leave you with our meat supply... I'm taking some to the office tomorrow :)

Don't hold your breath for great bread in Japan - general rule is that most Japanese versions of western food isn't necessary an accurate reproduction!! Now off to check out Kept Ninja's bog....xx
ReplyDeleteI love the bread Louie... it just costs ~60c per slice :)
