What are the chances of bumping into 2 couples from your work group on Tokyo streets? actually, pretty good when you all live in the same apartment block. We headed out dinner with Marcelo, Aline, Caroline and Mike to a Brazilian restaurant... We took a few trains and then hit the pavements...for 45mins...probably when you need a good street sign...or at least 'A' street sign...they don't use them here. Instead we found the restaurant due to its proximity to Louis Vutton :) By-the-by, we found the suburb of Omotesando...Tokyo's 5th Avenue - it looks awesome!!! I hope to go back very soon!! hopefully after payday :)
So after my first brazilian meal, I've decided that it must be tough to be a vegetarian in Brazil. You have a disc on the table - red bull means "keep bringing the meat", green means "whoa Nelly"... our iron levels are looking good!We also sampled the Japanese beer - it's no Little creatures, but it's pretty good.
Day 2 at work - I still feel guilty having a big office to myself whilst the project engineers have a small space on a long table in an open plan office - madness. At lunchtime I follow the crowd - there are usually about 7 options which they show for you in a plastic replica before you enter - there is no English translation so I've been going with the crowd pleasers - the longest queue must be the best option - so far two winning meals :)
Tonight we had fish cakes and pork with the usual veggies, miso soup, etc and picked up a bottle of Bordeaux blend and some Timtams for a treat at home :)
Kept Ninja thinks we should take pics of the apartments tomorrow and "let the people decide" where we live.... hmm I might take opinions into consideration...particularly if there are promises of visitors! :)
Also considering a delayed honeymoon in Guam in June... it's where all the Japanese peeps go for some sun and fun...so, do as the locals do!
